Default Insurance question

Right being insured with greenlight i called them when it came to insuring my second car i collect wednesday. They quoted me £597 fully comp with my ncb 'mirrored' onto this policy.

i just got a quote from aviva and they came in @ £527 fully comp, with my ncb just referenced in the quote

now....as my ncb is tied up in my FRS, am i allowed to use it with another policy, or can it only be mirrored or not at all?

would like to take the aviva quote but unsure if i am misrepresenting when i use my ncb for the quote

help appreciated guys

rory

You can only use the NCB on one car at a time. So the above Aviva quote would be invalid.

There are however insurers that will apply the same level NCB to your new policy after seeing proof of your existing NCB on another car, or as you already know your existing insurer will mirror the bonus onto your new car.

I have used firstpoint insurance specialists who found an underwriter that would duplicate my NCB onto a second car. However should I move that second cars insurance away from them, I would only receive the NCB for how many years its been insured with them. This will be the same with your green light mirroring.

i.e. you have a car insured with them with 8 years NCB.
They mirror this bonus onto car 2.

If a year later you move car 2 onto another policy with another insurer, you would only get 1 years NCB from greenlight for that individual car. Car 1 would have 8 years NCB unaffected.

Hope this helps.

No Problem.

I do know that Chris Knott insurance will mirror no claims on cars (but obviously you need both cars insured with them). There are a few others too.

Perhaps instead of insuring for a year, greenlight will allow you to mirror the no claims and have the policy shorter, so it expires at the same time as your current policy. That way you can move them both at the same time next time?
