Well worth doing. cost would depend on how good of a finish you want. and the chances are you would descover some areas you would want to have welded etc...

best to take it back now and discover small holes than to leave it until those small holes become big enough to show themselves through years of underseal and filth

for pure peace of mind in knowing that u have taken it right back, etch primered it, seam sealed all the joints, then covered with whatever stonechip type coating u go for, giving it a really good rust proofing, its well worth the effort

paint cost me £100 ish in total (I have pm'd details of what i got)

Powdercoating cost me £80 cash but i did have two extra wishbones done and sold them for £70 on ebay so that basically paid for itself.

Zinc plating of nuts and bolts/brackets/gearshift selectors and fuel lines was £40

Various other items i.e clips/brake pipes etc cost about £35/£40

The fuel pump carrier was £115 (expensive but well worth it) plus about another £100 on various odds and sods - braided hoses etc etc but obviously you may not want to take it that far
