The police weren't talking to him in a bad way no and clearly just wanted to wrap it up BUT he was right, waste of time and energy. A crime is a crime as they say but come on, no lights on your bikes and going through a red light, Ł700 fine? How many times do smack heads get let off with just a fine when they rob a shop or someone stealing a car or something.

TBH the more cyclists getting prosecuted who ride without lights, on the pavement or go through red lights the better IMO. They dont pay road tax or insurance so at the very least they should obey the rules of the road.

The biker got banned for 6 months in accordance with standard guidelines and probably a bit of "setting an example". Being banned for 6 months will teach him a much stronger lesson than a large fine and lot of points hence why he got it.

Its a strange situation this country has got to, where criminals who are on paper mostly poor benefit underclass in effect cant be punished because most of the crimes are not serious enough to regularly justify custodial sentances and fines and driving bans etc mean nothing when youve no license anyway and no ability on paper to pay.

So under the current system theres little they can do!!

I cant see any solution except increasing the amount of custodial sentances given out so that even the underclass scum who cant be touched with bans and fines get a form of punishment. problem then is cost of housing all these prisoners, reforming the prison system so its an actual punishment (loss of freedom alone is not enough IMO) and justifying it all.
