the guy only got punished because he acted like a cock. so he got what he deserved. im sure the magistrate's listened to the police statement about his abusive behaviour and it would have heavily influenced thier decision to set an example and heavily punish him.
TBH the more cyclists getting prosecuted who ride without lights, on the pavement or go through red lights the better IMO. They dont pay road tax or insurance so at the very least they should obey the rules of the road.
in stoke i cant remember the last time i saw a cyclist with lights on his bike
