The best rollbar setup is the RS16i due to weight and design.

I have seen many custom made rollbar setups over the years and to date have not seen one that is as good as factory items.

The picture of the rollbar above is dangerous.! I wouldnt want that anywhere near my car.

not sure what blade's you mean gus but i enquired about some when i thought it might of been possible to fit some to my car Ł820 each

The coner plates look like they are made from cornflake cardboard box.
No support in the middle between the two corners.
The way the blades have been welded to the roll bar dont look strong enough to last over time.
The welded plate on to the tie bars that support the drop links dont look great either.

This is all without seeing it in person, dont know what else you would spot if it was?

The princible is perfect as you know, however the only reason i see for using this setup would be to keep a S2 gearbox with the cradle?

If it was me id re-make it with some better design.

Or just switch to an RS16i setup.
I havent seen one better to date, in all the years that us lot combined have been messing with these cars i still havent seen anyone come up with anything better?

Yes the TT Rollbar is great and would be the best fit for a S2 setup with craddle but as we all know they are hard to find and hold value. Id still rather a Mk3 setup for the gearbox mounting, so still not better than the RS16i.

Using an S2 rear ARB on mine but with alloy block mounts and ball jointed droplinks to the rear wishbones. Seems to work but i havent tried anything else!
Front is RS1600i with MEF tension struts. As Jano says its the best...

Sounds nice you got any pics
i was hopeing to run rear antirollbar then i would have the choice at a later date to run with or without
my cabbie hasnt got 1 and that seems to handle good for spec
but i cant see a way with link bars and a wheel well
apart from similiar to standard setup

No decent pics mate im afraid, but it just involved getting a couple of alloy blocks the right size, cutting them in half and then drilling a 16mm hole through the two halves obv. (with the joint in the middle).
Philloy did them for me.
Also had to fab brackets onto the rear crossmember to mount the blocks. Then the end of the ARB has the standard mounts ground off and a hole drilled instead for the droplink. Droplinks are the same length as standard shackles- i found them on ebay!
Then i just modded the shackle brackets on the wishbones to accept the droplink.
I did it after being in contact with the guy from southampton who recently used to race that white (and later red) S1. He had a very beefy rear ARB on the white car that was custom made but was the same shape as the standard item. All i would have to do to fit a bigger one is have it made to same dimensions as a standard S2 one but thicker, then drill the holes out in the alloy blocks to suit the new diamater bar...
