Default Inlet pleunum spacers?

Whats the advantage of these then? ive seen a couple i think 10mm and 16mm. which is best then?. What improvement do you get and is it just a case of fitting with an inlet gasket eitherside and fit and forget or do it require an tweak to the cars map etc etc??. just asking as im taking the head of my 3 door soon to upgrade to wrc gasket and take it from its current stage 1 spec to about 325 bhp. thanks in advance

not worth spacing a 2wd inlet; only use the spacer on a 4x4 inlet as they are deeper. the advantages is allowing more air essentially. at 325hp a 2wd inlet is fine

put a heat spacer between head and inlet manifold to stop heat transfer

dont bother with the smaller ones as you haveto modify the fuel rail - i fitted one of Reylands 17.6mm along with 2 cometic gaskets requires no rail mods and fits like a glove, Martin supplies it all as a kit

At 325 hp you dont need a plenum spacer!!!your best bet is just go for a 4x4 one as an upgrade to your 2wd inlet...
The only time id bother with a spacer is when your fitting a bigger turbo,ie gt30 etc and need a bit more flow/air to achieve more power over a std inlet but ultimately a hart plenum would be better..

Are u just taking the head off and fitting the wrc gasket?! Cos the head and block face both need to be nice and flat when fitting a metal gasket....

Danny, just out of interest going by what u said is it worth me bothering to fit my 10mm one to mine before I book it in and bring it up to you guys?! Heads ported so needs a remap but it's also got a 2wd ported inlet too. It's also running greys and a t34 .63.

The hart one certainly looks a well made piece of kit, what's the lag like with such a massive volume increase ?

Im taking engine and box out for a look and a freshen up really. car has been dry stored for 17 years and i got hold of it early this year. Got it all up and running and mot'd and have been driving about a bit but fancy checking it all over through the winter. Fancy upping the power from its current stage one as im bored already lol. Going to get head checked for flatness etc. Got amate of mine helping out who's a dab hand with his two cossies. One being a375 bhp escos and a 425 bhp mk1 mexico cosworth. He's just redone his escos with wrc gasket and arp stud and nut kit and reckons its the way to go for ultimate reliability long term as its not a car im planning on getting rid of any time soon as its got sentimental value as it belonged to someomne very close to me who passed away end of last year. Also plan on giving it a fresh coat of paint also early next year and making it minty mint. not thts in bad nick now lol.

Hello mate,i suppose the spacer wont hurt on a 2wd inlet but as iv said above on your spec the first best improvement would be a 4x4 inlet and a spacer only needed if you ever went for a bigger turbo than a t34...

Id never go that far as to fitting gt series turbo's etc as id like to keep it fairly original looking etc etc. have a great respect for big power cars and changing the looks etc but id like to keep this one standard looks with fast road power
