Go for the crf 450. It's in it's own leauge!

Put I also prefer the two stroke. There are pros and cons for both 4 stoke and 2 stroke. You can be more lazy with a 4 stroke!

300 2 strokes seem to be a good balance for power and torque

think the questions everyone is missing are

how experienced / compotent are you on a mx bike , mx track ??

what to you plan on using the bike for ? fun , larking about on a feild , impressing the loacal scallys with wheelies ?

after all its all good an well wanting a big lairy 450 thumper but its no gud tyo you iv youve never ridden a mx track before mate

i know a few people who think " ahh im a big lad who can ride a road bike ect , i dont need a pansy 125 "

belive me , i well set up 125 /250 will kick ass round a track ,

so could you answer the above ??

tiddlers ar ealways more FUN
i had more fun with mates on 125's than now on my fireblade
i find a cr80 or similar is a propper fun bit of kit, it'll go anywhere and sped isnt a major factor on dirt

when bro inlaw got his yzf we did a deal on a little thumper pit bike too, its fukin ace, more fun that the yzf for what we can do atm (fields are out as the birds are bein protected to be shot DOH)

Watch if you go for one of the earlyer CRF's my friends that raced them had problems with the valves, seems to be better on the new bikes.

you really need to get experience on a 125 2t before you start stating you'd get bored with the power. my ktm you are up on the back wheel 1st 2nd and 3rd no problems.
Riding 2 stroke is totally different to 4stroke too.

If you rode a rm250 or ktm 250 sx 2t you'd probably kill yourself or be slower than a 4t 125 unless you have experience with mx.

theres many factors involved, depending on what class event you'll be competing in,
and then theres the maintenance side of things too.

your so right!!! ive been riding since i was four years old! i intorduce my mates to the sport they dont relise how tough it is! and simply its not enjoyable for beginners and IMO you dont start properly enjoying the sport until about 3 years of experience... i race enduro competitions mainly and practice on motocross tracks.... but seriously.... any car 500bhp or whatever you wont beat the pull my 250 two stroker snaps at ya! power to weight ratio is awesome... IMO and fact has it 450 four stroke is no more powerful than 250 two stroke there both MX1 class bikes....

and yes ur totally correct... even if you weigh 16stonne... trust me a 125cc motocross bike will easily have u thrown of the back when she kicks in! motocross is not focussed on beginners u go to practice tracks there all rough and jumpy excellent for me now but i remember i was a beginner once and takes a lot of commitment to see it out!

there should be open flatter tracks for beginners to get in the mix its such a good sport!
