you will have no problems in upgrading to a 044,and will leave extra capacityif you decide to up your power in the future

I would also use the 941 std pump at stage 1 power, we have one here that has only been run for a matter of minuites give us a ring if you want it at a discounted price.

Yes they do whine quite a lot, if you take the pipe off the top of the fuel fressure reg and check the pressure it should be 52 psi

Why would you change the fuel pressure on a stage 1 chip ?

There is no need unless you suspect something is wrong? So long as the fuel filter is good.

MOST importantly is the fuel pump wiring, the standard wiring degrades due to the age and so the pump doesn't get the power needed you want to see alternator voltage when the pump is UNDER load, this needs to be right whatever pump you have.

As said it depends on what valve the author of the chip has written for. Standard pressure is 3.5 BAR, I am pretty sure MSD write for standard fuel pressure on most chips?

You need to listen for my 044, as it's quiet/ish, seems a bit of a lottery noise wise, the 941 I could hear easy inside the car the 044 hardly outside the car.

Ok guys let me rephrase the question : With new fuel pump rubber mountings will the 044 be noisy? the old 941 i have on the sapphy on fresh rubbers there's absolutely no noise at all but there was quite some buzzing noise prior to replacing the deteriorated rubbers.

thanks to all for your informative opinions.

James, isint the extra capacity for future upgrades reasoning as james kiely puts it good enough to go for the 044?

if u think u will ever up the power then why waste your money on a standard one? get an 044 then u no its far better than needed anyway and will be good right up to 500bhp if u get bored and tune it more

Would the standard fuel pipes : feed + return be able to handle the extra flow of the 044 without undue increase in back pressure on the pump and hence current demand. BTW i have rewired pump using 2 x 2.5mm2 copper cable runs as +ve and a good nearby earthing -ve point.

it depends if you want to go over 400bhp. the 044 is a good pump, but so is the 941 up to 400 bhp, so only you can answer which one you want or need.

if you only plan on running stage 1-3 then an 044 will give you no benefit at all.

I'm on stage 3, and was thinking of getting a 044, but I'll stay with standard pump after reading this thread!
Cheers Shaun
