Default no drive after renewing clutch

Hi guys, ive just bought a 2000 ford focus zetec estate which had a slipping clutch and was well on its way out..so at the weekend ive replaced it with a complete new kit, installed everything and took a well deserved step back to appricate my work

Didnt last for long tho as ive got no drive coming through the drive shafts and can take my foot off the clutch completely whilst in gear so just wanted to see if you guys had any ideas what it could be because im all out

thanks in advance and the 1st rounds on me

Hydraulic slave cylinder/master cylinder fault or clutch pipe crushed is my first thought mate, failing that then it could be the clutch disc or cover

If it def goes into gear (assuming the cables are back on correctly lol) then i would slacken the bleed screw and see if it then tries to drive.

no it doesnt grind into gear, its more of a smooth action and regarding the driveshafts they've been pushed home into the splines,cv joint could be worth a look tho as i did do a bit of tugging to get the passenger side one out

as you can all tell this is the 1st big job ive tackled on car lol

if clutch was in the wrong way would it not be a pain to even get it in gear with the engine running?

sorry to be a pest but is there supposed to be slight resistance once you push the driveshaft in to engage the splines in the differential gears!!!!!
because mine can easily turn

here is how to check the driveshafts are def in; with the car in 1st gear jack up one side off the ground, leaving the other on the ground, and see if you can sin the wheel that is airbourne.

the near side drive shaft should be held in with a circlip in a groove on the splines (at least it is on the mtx75 boxes). the way i got mine back in was to compress the end float in the shaft and tap the end of the shaft with a rubber mallet till it went all the way into the box.

they are called snap rings, and you should be able to seat the shafts by giving them a good shove, i normally put the outer cv into the hub and use the strut to whack it in with the bbj still disconnected.

just an update guys, finally decided to get the old man over to give me a 2nd pair of eyes and hands, and it seems the gearbox it fubarred

did the clutch again and as i thought i had originally put it in correctly, bolted up and driveshafts pushed home to find absolutely no drive coming from the main driveshaft, whilst the drivers/side goes round but if you place pressure on it can easily stop...

so its going to take a longer then i thought to get it on the road

Did you have both wheels off the ground?

Only jack up one wheel then get in and drive it! dont worry it wont go anywhere as said that's what its meant to do as it has and open diff inside and not a limited slip diff

I've just done a gearbox on a Mk3 mondeo 1.8 zetec and that did exactly the same thing. After a lot of head scratching it turned out to be the driveshafts hadn't gone back into the gearbox properly even though I thought they had. All I did was jack the front up loosened the Driveshaft nuts at the wheels and gently tapped with a hammer then did the nut up and it drove straight away. Exactly the same prob as yours. When one wheel was off the ground one wheel would go round but could be stopped by hand.
