Ever since i've been young i've always heard people saying the reason why certain red escorts go pink and others don't is because of if they were made in Germany or Essex, also i always used to hear that early mk4s were shipped across from wherever? With no covers on or something which is why they all rotted away. Another one was they used bad metal.

I just got thinking of all these things people used to say when the majority of the Uk have problems with these cars. Now with the internet do we know any better?

It just thought about all this because i've owned my escort for about 3 years now, its a 95 and the way its going the roof will be white in a couple more of years.

So i thought maybe some of you guys in this bit of the forum could put a couple of these rumours to rest. Mostly the red to pink thing.

 

I'd put it down to just how the paint is (shit).

I've seen red mk5 and mk6 escorts go pink.

 

if you lacqour the car then it will not go pink i do it to all my rebuilds
