Hey guys, Found a picture of my dads old mk 1 escort. I'm trying to find out some info on it like when it was scraped and that. I tried the DVLA web site and it couldnt give me any infomation. I've noticed thats happend before when i've serched some cars and then seen other people have found out info on the car, so i thought i'd put up the reg plate and see if anyone else knows anything about it on here.

Reg looks to be VUY 342G. What year does that make it btw? It probably didnt last much longer than when my dad go rid of it in the 70s. apparently it was pretty mechanicly shit.

Would be quite sort after now though i guess. Its funny how at the time it was just another car.

 

G is 1968-69.

They were introduced in January of 1968 so an early one.

And would be worth a shed load now, in pretty much any condition!

 

The one I had was earlyish EEH 221J and at the time I worked with a bloke who had a totally standard F plate one.Thats the oldest one I had ever seen that was back in 1993.

 

My mate found an F plate 2 door in a garage early last year

it was his missus uncles car and they discovered it in the garage when they were clearing out the house. He locked the house up and moved back to his mother's house after he broke up with his wife in the late 70's and never went back There were also cars parked outside the house on the driveway but they were completely rotten and only the escort survived because it had been garaged.

My mate was forced to sell it last year He stripped the shell back to bare metal before he was forced to sell it but he still got over Ł3k for it like that IIRC Shame because I would have liked to have seen it get finished

Thats an intresting find. I wonder if my 3dr 95 escort mistral will be sort after in the same way one day. i guess at the time when he locked that one in the garage in the 70s, it was just another old escort.
