Edition 30 all the way. A great car to drive. Was at a stage of buying one but 15K is pretty steep for a Golf.

Focus would have my vote, imo more special than an edition 30 golf.....drive both and find out though
Can't really compare a medium sized hot hatch to an m5 though

depends exactly what your after to? ive also looked at both cars alot the DSG and remap to 300bhp were a big plus for me, the ed30 is already nearly 3 seconds quicker to 120mph then the FRS as standard, and i think there was 0.4 between them round the top gear track so quite evenly matched in that department to... and imo the ed30 is the better drive for round town
wont be dissapointed with either though

isnt there a big difference in price between the 2 ?
surely the Golf is not in the same class as the RS and would be more similar to the ST ?

Show me a Ł25k+ hatch that depreciates a material amount less with actual figures for equivalent (ish) specs please as i'm not sure the focus depreciates any more than its class equivalents from other manufacturers.

15k or 25k... bit of a difference, if it was for the other half I'd go for the Golf ED30. If it was for me, then I'd go for the FRS.
Cheers,
Grant

I dont think the ed30 golf is Ł15k or the frs2 for that matter, they both Ł25k+ list

Aye, brand new they might have been, but I'm pretty sure you can't buy an Edition 30 brand new anymore?! ...so you'll be paying Ł15-Ł17k for one from what I can remember from a recent P/heads scan I did on MK5 GTi section.
Cheers,
Grant

Easy choice then, the focus. No way would i drop Ł15-17k on a 4-5 year old golf

wasn't saying they look bad, was just saying they have different appeals
Between the 2, I'd have the Golf, or neither, and get a 335i

Traction and dsg I guess. The focus is torque limited in first and second too.

I disagree. Resale price is a big factor in whether a. Lot of folks buy a car or not. Hence the mini was launched with guaranteed dealer buy back prices to keep an artificially high resale value. Frs is no worse than its sector rivals tho
