Default Have I been scammed? (sorted)

Firstly it was Ebay, no great surprise there, as I've heard plenty bad stories but have been using the site for 5 years and only had one instance where i got sent escos indicators instead of saph ones, out of maybe 300 purchases or so.

Anyway along comes my M5, and being a crap winter last year i decided to buy a "spare" set of smaller rims for winter use with the correct tyres. Looked for a set for ages and finally came accross a set on Ebay, i won and paid for the items as you do.

Get home yesterday to find ONE wheel has been delivered, instantly got pissed off thinking that the seller had advertised a set but decided to split them up and send me one wheel or it was a crap advert and it meant one wheel etc...
Anyway so I contacted UPS they told me the package was 1 piece, not 4, so that got me more wound up.
Contacted seller and he assures me that he sent all 4, so i ask him why UPS say there was only one item sent and he never replied, only saying that they might turn up tomorrow.
I then sent him an email asking for the tracking number and he replied saying he will give it to me IF the wheels don't turn up tomorrow, what difference does that make, give me the number!!!!!!!
For justnow i'll give him the benefit of the doubt but I suspect he's upto something.
Oh and I did check his feedback and it's all good, but something not right! Guess it's my fault for buying stuff of Ebay but you generally expect everyone to be as honest as yourself and not be a dick!
I hope it's just a simple "logistical" error

does sound a bit iffy! take photos of all the packaging and try and keep all contact through the ebay contact centre. then if still no wheels open a resolution and they will make a judgement if the buyer wont refund you.

nothing wrong with ebay as long as you buy from reputable sellers and not just because something is cheap etc

You'll fair better than you would if you had bought off a forum or from a trader and the same thing happened, as paypal will just give you your money back.
Did you follow the golden rule though and pay for the paypal payment on your credit card just to make sure?
It's almost impossible to lose out as a buyer if you are paying on credit card as you can just tell the credit card company not to pay paypal.

As long as you used paypal thats ok.
Open a dispute in the resolution centre on ebay, they will investigate and you should be fine

Link to the ad would be good so all can avoid the seller

You have the tracking number on the label that came on your package. If there are other items linked to it, UPS will be able to tell you. They can also tell you the weight, to see if they collected 1 or 4 wheels.

Should go as a minus on their account and credit you, then paypal will chase

Just start a dispute then a claim in Paypal. Say your item has not turned up. Get a full refund. It generally works for me.

Got home from work last night to find the missing 3 wheels had turned up, so all is well, presuming courier must've fcuked up and though there was only supposed to be one package since it wasn't listed as 4 seperate items.
Alls well that ends well as they say, thanks for the advice!

What paypal did with me was send me an email telling me it was good news and they had found in my favour and as soon as the seller had some money in their account it would come to me, which blatantly as it was a scammer who I had since found out ripped loads of people off they werent ever going to put money back in.
I was all for taking it on the chin, until paypal refused to refund me the 3 pounds in fees that they had charged me but not given to the seller (he got 37 of the 40 I paid)
So I decided if they were going to be cunts and keep the 3 quid even though they had found in my favour, I would have the lot back instead so got the credit card company not to pay paypal!
