Default Missing a return flight on purporse?

Does anyone know what happens if you book a Return flight and don't bother using the return?

I'm moving to America and its actually cheaper to buy a Return ticket than a Single.

Nothing happens.

Well other than they might mention it to immigration but thats not a problem if you are there legally.

Check there isnt any dodgy terms and conditions with the offer in the very small print.

I know some local ferries do special return offers now and again usually on a sameday basis. Apparently if you dont complete the same day deal, they will then charge a full fare.
Although if you had a very good reason they might let it go.

Saying you missed the plane then just decided to stay on, probably isnt showing much intent to actually fulfil your end of the transaction.

Although on the other hand, they can cancel flights as they please leaving you in the shit, so fuck em lol.

just call them when your there and say you wont be on the flight due to unforseen circumstances. Easy and courteous

I seems to remember a news article where someone got a return ticket, but didnt use it - that got the security alerted and investigation started. So something to be aware of.

as dan posted , ive done it a cpl times whilst travelling the usa,

every time i just ring the airline withing 4 hrs of the flight and just say i wont be on the flight due to injury ,

in one circumstance on a us internal flight ( washington to ohio ) when i rang them they seemed amazed id done it our of curtosey that they offerd to reschedule my return foc ,

shows that a bit of effort on your own part sometimes goes a long way
