The DMF will die eventually if not already. If you change the clutch change the Fly also otherwise you will be doing it again. Not cheap mind you as its a Ford only Part. Your friend will regret it, when i changed mine the car only had 50'000 on it and the DMF was a mess.

Well the next day I got in my car and everything was ok lol.

Clutch was back to it's springy self.

Very wierd but what must have happened was the hydraulic fluid maybe heated up slot which made the Clutch really hard and not be able to get in gear. Then it cooled down and everything is back to normal touch wood with no slipping

Default Does my ST170 have a dual mass flywheel?

Quick question - my clutch is slipping so got some prices from local garages and they said best to change the DMF as well - toal cost around £750. Went to Ford dealership and they quoted £400 - quizzed them if this included the DMF and they assured me that my model (2003) does not have a DMF - they checked their databases etc using the car's reg no and are adamant it does not have one. Who do I belive I don't want to book it in for a clutch change of £400 with the local garage and then they tell me I'll need to double it as it has a DMF - apparently they can't tell untill it's apart. Any advice greatfully received! Also it's done 81K.

well un-less your car was a one off or your car isnt an st170 im quite sure the flywheel is a duel mass item as fords never did a solid flywheel for the st170,
ford use luk flywheels, (check ebay and other parts factors) £400+clutch bearing and servo. about £300 plus labor £150-300
for a solid fly check http://www.ttvracing.com/
(would need sprung clutch plate)
