Dog experts... (family jewels)
As some know Ive got a bulldog, hes reasonably calm but at certain points he can get over excited and try to shag little kids
hes never tried it on with me but the over night he went for the missis (decorators were in so I think he got mixed signals!) and tried to get on her back. Now hes not a complete sex pest and he doesnt do it all the time but it does get a bit embarassing. Anyway, after trying his look with her ( I could have told him he wouldnt get anywhere) she thinks we should get him castrated. Personally im dead against it, the boy has no say in it and suddenly his balls are gone. One vet I spoke to said it wouldnt change him other than meaning he would never be able to breed and would squat for a pee instead of cocking his leg. Others have said it would calm him down. Has anyone had their dog done and has it stopped the dry humping? Really dont want to get him done but need a good argument to stop it happening.
cheers
Steve

we have had ours done in the past, it doesnt change their character at all, it just means they wont have the horn on, which can only be a good thing? thats if you dont plan on breeding.
Just get it done, he wont know its been done apart from feeling the stitches down there, but he will have to wear a neck thingy for a week or so until he has the stitches out, if you dont put it on he will just pull/lick them out, which is not good

I cant understand why some vets are telling you it wont change him, i'm no vet so if thats what they told you then they must have had some reasoning behind it.
A dog without its bits should be calmer, this can make them lazy though hence why the majority of working dogs are not castrated. One of the 3 of my uncles collie's is and it brought him down the other 2 level, was far to excitiable before and wouldn't do as its told, balls off and its a lot calmer.
Again not sure about the cocking the leg, this is something they develop from a pup. Some male dogs never do it but i have seen many a castrated dog cock its leg, not that i'm on the look out or anything! Also with the humping, there is no saying it will stop it 100% but it in theory should make him calmer and less horney for your misses leaving just you to pester her
had my dog done about 4 months ago and its calmed him down a bit. He never used to hump anything though except his toy duck - the poor toy used to get pounded 24/7!!!! Certainly hasnt changed his charactor though and he still cocks his leg!!

i had my staff done calmed him down a bit and did stop him trying to shag averyones leg and the best thing was he stopped pissing up car tyres as befor every car he went past he wanted to cock his leg and piss up the tyre was funny when we went to get him from the vets i got my misses to drop him off and when we both went to pick him up he did not want to know her as if it was her fault his nutts were gone
Having his bits removed simply reduces the testosterone levels in his body, meaning he wont be so randy all the time!
Not only that, it will help reduce the risk of certain cancers too!
He will still cock his leg dont worry... thats just a male dog thing, and having his bits off wont affect that at all!
In my personal opinion, if you are not planning to breed from him, get it done!

My dog was already done when we got him, but he used to shag his blanket all the time, he took it everywhere, and loved doing it in front of us.
He's an old guy of 12 now though, and prefers his sleep. I'm getting a bit that way too. Although to be honest blankets never turned me on.

It will probably stop him humping but humping is also a dominant behaviour and it won't solve the cause of the problem, the fact that he doesn't respect your mrs or kids. Get it sorted through training, he could potentially be dangerous castrated or not.

As i said, the dog will not give a shit, as soon as the stitches come out and hes plastic head shield can come off he really wont know/care.
Im not quite sure why it matters whether or not your dog cocks his leg or not either
Thats the most ridiculous thing ive heard in a long time

Says hogdog lol...Dogs are cool as pets.
A lot of that activity is also down to not enough proper exercise.
Watch The Dog Whisperer. The guy is a genius with dogs.
When they neuter them though, they dont actually remove their balls ?
