Default Think the garage used the wrong oil in my brother's Fiesta..

Can someone please confirm that the correct oil for a 2004 Fiesta 1.4 Duratec EFI DOHC 75PS is 5W30? I checked this enough times and when he took it they told him they put 10W40 in it and were saying that 5W30 is the wrong type of oil. I am sure it is 5W30 semi synth that the zetecs and duratecs need and the fact that they put 10W40 will end up resulting in sticky valves

yup, tis 5w30 semi synthetic. or fully synthetic if your feeling flush

ive never put 10w40 in a zetec, although going by how they usually burn it, it shouldnt make too much difference to how it runs

Thought as much. Just to note though it is the proper duratec engine in the MK6 Fez not the rebadged zetec. Joke is I bought the service kit and the oil for my brother and gave it to him to take with him and they said to him you bought the wrong oil

yep its 5w30 my brother learnt hard way

as think someone else had put 10w40

in his mondeo 1.8 duratec

we did the service using the same and

eventually had sticky tappets and cause car to misfire and stop completely

then instead of buying tappets and us doing them

he had another mechanic friend to look at this

and they towed it down a duel carriage way destroying the engine

Ford recommend 5w30 for all zetec and duratec engines.

Yup, definately 5/30. Why change it yourself? Take it back to them for them to do it properly! Just think how many other engine's they've put the wrong oil in to!
