Default plate retention question...

does retention fee include assignment fee to new vehicle (once found)??

Also is it quicker to go into a local office than by post?

local office is definatly quicker, i think you need to pay the Ł80 to transfer from the cert to a vehical

if a plate is on retention it costs you nothing to put it on a car, as long as you are the grantee or named nominee on the certificate, if your names not ont here you cant do shit lol

As above, the cost of putting the plate on retention for a year includes the transfer fee to a vehicle. If you're not the Purchaser then you must be the nominee. Definitely go to your local office. I did a recent transfer from retention to car and they did it there and then in about 5 minutes, new V5 turned up a week or so later. Much better than sending all the paperwork off and then getting "lost in the post" as seems to happen with a lot of DVLA post!

if i go in is it a case of i still have to wait to change plates or can i change as soon as i come out?? (after making new plates)

They said to me let your insurance company know of the change and then swap the plates over but you can swap over immediately. They give you a new tax disc there & then, dont even need to take the old one in, just dispose of it.
