Default Ford + MOT - well I never!!

Took my brothers Focus for an mot yesterday.

Y plate 1.8 ghia with 105k on the clock and for ther last 2 mot's it has sailed through so was thinking this time it has to come a cropper

Nope, failed on a front tyre being worn and an empty washer bottle

Best bit was that we picked it over 4 years ago from a back street motor trader for 3.5k and other than the cambelt change, and the odd service it has had or needed nothing!! £80 for two front tyres and it is off motoring again

Not bad for an old Ford

A lot better than the Mk2 anyways, IMO.

i had a 1.8 with 136 000 on clock when i got it, it did another 15000 in a year and it took some abuse and still was better to drive than the cars ive driven recently that were newr with far less miles

Out of the 8 fords ive took for mot only 1 had failed. It was the brother in laws mondeo which he had just ran into the ground.

Mk1 Focus's do rust quite badly in places.

Yep, same here. Took Rapid Fit 5.5 hours to fit lowering springs to my Mk1 Focus.

Our Capri pased 1st time this morning. First time we've had it MOT'd since we owned it. Few advisories to take care of but nothing major. Not bad for a 26 year old Ford.

I was going to say the rear end (suspension) on MK1 Focus's cause all sorts of headaches.
