help needed cosworth rear cv joints and drive shafts

Default help needed cosworth rear cv joints and drive shafts

i have stripped an painted my drive shafts and cv joints will they be ok or will this put them out of ballance . how do i now if the cv joints are ok

where can i get the cv boots from an what grease do i need for then an how much any help would be greatfull

as long as you haven't painted the bits inside they'll be fine

you need proper cv joint grease to put back in, DON'T get it ANYWHERE near anything you ever want to touch or use again though, it won't come out and it'll stay on your hands for weeks

put grease inside the joint and move it about a bit until all the bits are coated, then squeeze some more into the boot before you put it back over again

cheers dojj ya a star i have some grease in there jus to stop them rusting but some i cleaned all the grease out an i couldnt move the joint is this coz there is no grease in there . an when they have grease in they move freely but they seem to stick an then move freely is this wright or do i need new ones

There is some Red Polyurethane ones on eBay mate type in Cosworth driveshaft gaiters Ł13.00 a pair, check the sizes though.

they will stick as they are stiff to move with your hand

if you can do it, push one side of the joint to pop the balls out and make sure none of them have lost heir hardness, you'll see a shinier part of the joint as well, in which case they will clack like a set of maracas when you put it back on again
