as long as you haven't painted the bits inside they'll be fine
you need proper cv joint grease to put back in, DON'T get it ANYWHERE near anything you ever want to touch or use again though, it won't come out and it'll stay on your hands for weeks
put grease inside the joint and move it about a bit until all the bits are coated, then squeeze some more into the boot before you put it back over again

cheers dojj ya a star i have some grease in there jus to stop them rusting but some i cleaned all the grease out an i couldnt move the joint is this coz there is no grease in there . an when they have grease in they move freely but they seem to stick an then move freely is this wright or do i need new ones
they will stick as they are stiff to move with your hand
if you can do it, push one side of the joint to pop the balls out and make sure none of them have lost heir hardness, you'll see a shinier part of the joint as well, in which case they will clack like a set of maracas when you put it back on again
