I WANA TURN MY 1991 ESCORT XR3I EFI INTO A EFI TURBO HAS ANY ONE GOT ANY POINTERS AND INFO ON WHAT I NEED TO DO SO AND WAT DO I NEED TO DO IT

 

Done this conversion to my 500se cabriolet.U need a fiesta turbo engine and ECU map sensor and fuel mixture pot . if u use a OFAC ECU its easy as it plugs straght in. with a OFAB u need to swop round some wires on the ECU plug and the map sensor wiring and plug is different. id use a escort t3 turbo as it fits the escort exhaust but u need to make the oil return pipe. put on a bleed valve on do away with the amnal valve as the xr3i dont have the wireing for it. hope this helps.

 

Why cant you use the rs turbo engine only reason i ask because a lad i know is selling his engine

 

do u mean a escort rs turbo engine? u really need a fiesta rs turbo engine or its involved as u need adapter plate to fit the efi manifold and the escort rs turbo engine has no crank sensor.

 

Yeah hes selling his escort rs turbo engine, i thought it would of went straight in but with some wiring alterations

 

it will go in u need the loom and mfi injection and ECUs. but it wont be efi.

 

it come out of his escort rs turbo and it has stamped on top of the inlet manifold efi the mfi is diffent

 

all escort turbos were bosh ke jetronic mfi if has efi it been converted. and u need all the bits to convert yours.

 

my heads banging now ha my easiest opition think will b just to buy 1 lol, doing the work will b easy getting all the info on bits i need is the hard bit lol

 

would maybe be better doing a 2.0 zetec conversion.

like i said the easy way is get a fiesta turbo engine and sensors a OFAC ECU a T3 turbo from a escort rs turbo. its easy

 

from what year fiesta, are the mounts the same wat sensors and will the ecu plug straight in

 

he says its in a cab, and if u go on his other items there is the cab for sale and the engine is still in it as an unfinished project.
why dont you ring up and ask if you can buy the whole lot then still be able to drive the xr3 around while building the rs cab project.

 

the escort fuel injection system is old unreliable and crap, stick with the newer efi mate, no dodgy fuel metering heads to rely on and its a nice straightforward swap. otherwise you will need the mfi fuel tank, fuel pump, loom, e.t.c....

 

ive just bought an engine with gearbox and everything else i need to do this conversion the engine is a sierra rebored to a 1900 with forged pistons con rods and strenghted crank shaft and loads of other mods ive got the recipets with engine toting up to nearlly 7k and the valuation sheet for the car the engine come out of
