Ford Sierra GT
A friend of mine has just been offered a Sierra GT for £400.
now i've never heard of them and know nothing of them
basically what he wants to know is:
is this a fair price? its immaculate condition, but its done 120K miles.
cheers for your help.

its just a twin cam sierra, nothing special but they are abit rare.... had improved / uprated suspension etc, look to pay about £50 more than a standard sierra. still only 125 bhp tho

Its just a LX with sports trim, painted mirrors, alloys etc. Was suppose to superseed the GLS but never caught on as it didn't have fogs, elec mirrors, h/lamp wash etc. But the GT was available in Estate but not Sapphire, Vice versa for GLS

in short its at XR4i with out the V6. but the 2,0L dohc are a greath engine. fore normal transport and light racing. i have had one since 17/6 99 and it´s done 272000 km . with out problems. and the last 102000km it have ben tuned til 140 bhp , with cams and janspeed manifold, and some other things. its not slow slow. i do a Qmile on 16:85 sec in it. so its at fine car. ofcourse it´s not fast compared to the cosworth. but it will keep on driving 100k km after the cosworth have given up..
i do know that its not a big tradition to tune the DOHC engine. but it works, it´s all in the intel manifold.. the max i approx 140bhp . so off its goes
it was just an LX with a different badge on the back
no electric mirrors, no abs (or rear discs), that sort of stuff which makes the GLS more desirable
have a look at this one and laugh

the good thing about them was that they all came as last of the line models so had all the 92 spec stuff on them (colour coded mirrors, bumpers) and the swooopy dash
the limits to tuning them are K+N, a set of cams (if you can find them) and the janspeed 4 branch exhaust manifold
or find a turbo technics conversion for around the 185 bhp mark

As I have said in another thread about the Sierra GT its based on the 1992 Sierra LX and has the boot spoiler and alloys like fitted to the Azure and a black b post decal along with a different coloured seat coverings. Just a parts bin special to move some more sierras before the mondeo come out.
