HI people. Am doing a bit of work to my car at the moment and am tidying up some bits in the bay when I came across this. I have seen it before but didnt pay much attention to it. Any ideas what it is? I am running a late spec (92) saph, greentop lambda model. This unit seems to be incorporated into a breather line, and anoter line seems to run towards the back of the car, near the petrol lines. Any help would be much appreciated. If it is not needeed I would rather get rid of it.

 

Fuck knows m8,i have a facelift saph (93) and dont have that in my bay iirc.

 

Its a fuel vapour vent valve thingy lol

 

Part of tank fumey venty thing I would say, so it opens to draw fumes from tank whilst car is running.

its the bypass valve for the carbon cannister, vents the fumes from the cannister back into the fuel tank.

You can junk it as its not a UK requirement for emmisions tests only USA, you need to make sure any vent lines from the plenum to cannister etc are plugged as you dont want fuel rich air wafting around the engine bay

 

Ahh ok brilliant. Thats OK I will junk it and remove/block off any lines that it was connected to. Cheers people

 

You could sell it, these are used on mondeo/escort etc that have heated front screen, to admit more air when switched on, my mondeo had one.
