Default Fuel pressure

Hi, more problems with the 3dr i'm afraid. The other day she started missfiring what appears to be intermittently. Not only while driving but on idle too. It will drive fine for a few secs then miss like hell, then fine again, then miss etc etc.

I've changed the MAP sensor, done the plugs and leads. Was considering fuel pressure regulator. I bought my current one off Ebay some years back (it said it was "set for greys") as i'm using grey injectors. Anyone know if these regulators with fitted gauges are any good? What fuel pressure should i be running with greys??

Next on the list is crank and phase sensors!!

Cheers!

3.5bar at idle with the vacume hose off, if you adjust anything make sure you get it to a tuner to be checked

BEWARE the cheap fuel pressure regs on ebay with the gauge, the ones described as billet, that are actually cast, having seen one on a saxo hot hatch the pressure varied between 1 and 6 bar, it was literally bouncing all over the place all the time, idle and driving on rollers, sure it was about Ł35-Ł45 or thereabouts.

Is a standard Ford Pressure reg up to the job of running greys at 2bar boost? I,ve heard you can adjust them too via an allen key on the top but dont know much about it to be honest?

Std one is more than up to the job, it's only a valve at the end of the day to control fluid, bhp doesn't make any difference.
Yes on top there is a allen screw, originally covered with a alloy/tin plug, this can be prised out and the screw turned to adjust pressure if needed, I use this on my own 2wd running greys.

Does it need adjusting from standard pressure? Am assuming you'd need a fuel pressure gauge if you started messing with the screw on top?

It needs to be at the pressure the chip writer had in mind, if needing adjustment it would indeed need a gauge, need to contact chip supplier/author, most are set around std though.

I'd do as jon@work's excellent suggestion first, fuel filter, could be all manner of things, check the crank position connector doing the wiggle test to see if alters.
When I first got my car it had been owned by two cossie "specialists" but still had a 12 year old fuel filter, there was literally no power below 2500, so little I couldn't change into 5th if below around 3500 as it would bog down unless downhill, nothing showed on rollers as wrong, outright power was ok and correct for spec, after filter change was a different animal pulling from 1500 in top without problem, no faster outright but so much better, so it's not just outright power it affects.
