Default i done a fake quote....

i logged onto the confused.com website, entered in my details as if i was 17, my car is a mk1 fiesta 957cc, it will be garaged, only 4000ish miles a year and driven for social domestic and pleasure only. this quote is if it was a completley standard car.....£2722
right....
the car isnt going to be completley standard anyway, it should have pepperpots and only 2 seats in it by the time im done.... £2772

same money i know, but £2772 insurance for a car that will be worth less than half that if it was MINT (its far from at the moment)
how can insurance for a 30hp 28year old fiesta be so damn expensive
and ive checked on places like direct line etc and some want over 4 grand!!
has anyone else got this problems or any tips how to lower the quote?
cheers

try adding your mum/dad as a NAMED driver on YOUR policy.

if you do it other way round, have you as a named driver on their policy think they classin it as fraud nowerdays and you'll be done accordingly if they catch you out..

but that quote you been gettin is horrendus lol

try ringing round for classic car insurance if its a mk1 fiesta

although being a 1st time driver you seem to get shafted by most insurance companies for the 1st few years

its not about what your cars worth, its about the potential value of the car you might hit. More than likely that quote is something like the average cost of an insurance claim. Totally shit I know, been there..done it

try Adrian flux

i used go compare im 25, i have mk2 1.6 focus lx 2 years no claims no points
my misses is on there, mods are alloys, tints, exhaust, induction kit, fully comp
around 5000 annual mileage and cheapest was £1150

the first time i insured it (last year) i was 24 and had tints and exhaust it was £890

so i have just used adrian flux all same details and its now £825 not brill but alot better than £1150

as has been said, it is the damage you may cause to others not the value of you car. For instance, you are unlucky enough to hit a brand new merc up the arse with 4 occupants who all claim for personal injuries.

The cost of your fez is insignificant in comparision to the cost of:
Repairing the merc
recovering the vehicles
courtesy cars
solicitors fee
hospital and doctor fees
personal injuries payments
etc etc

ANd that can just be a standard bump with standard payouts.

Best adivce is to ring around and see if there are ways to lower your policy ie
limited milage
insured to drive the car between certain hours ie 7am - midnight
higher excess
third party fire and theft cover
garaged or parked on a drive at night

also, often how you present yourself over the phone can go along way, my mates son recently got his insurance cancelled mid policy after a bump, it is almost 100% down to the fact he sounds like a chav fool on the phone 'innit, fukin wot yeah' he spoke to the insurance company sorting out the crash and can imagine what impression they got of him!

Polite and educated is the impression you want to get across.

Young drivers are in-experienced drivers in the eyes of the insurance companies
Hence why you get to donate a kidney for a simple policy!

Have you tried Chris Knott insurance? I had a quote through Sky Insurance through here and my renewal was still around £150 cheaper than Sky's quote

I know my age is for me (touching Forty later this year) but around £330 fully comp for an RS Cabriolet was pretty good and Chris Knott have allways been good and been withthem for 9 years and would highly reccomened them to anyone
