air leak somewhere i reckon
check all boost hoses, especially round the intercooler, could also be dump valve causing it to not idle or non return valve on back of engine

Thanks for that mate, im not too good with cars but i'll get a friend to check the things you mentioned. Do all dump valves cause this problem? And also is non return valve easy to see do you have to under car? Many thanks Rich

is the dump valve an atmosphere one or re circ?some rs's dont like the atmos dump valve, others have no problem
you can see the non return if you look from top of bay at back of engine, its a hose with a white one way valve in it,known to split and cause boosting and idling issues

Do the free checks first, take out the dv and block the hole, and also the vac pipe to it, if it now idles you've found your problem, it defo as said sounds like a air leak leaning mixture out or a duff iscv, idle speed control valve, ie not opening enough and admitting enough air to allow engine to run.
Usually if it's due to being very lean the engine will be a bit juddery on idle as well as cutting out, but should be cheap easy fix.

Typical Focus RS problem. Take the chav valve off, they don't like the twin piston dump valves. But if you insist on keeping it, disconnect the battery and leave over night. When reconnected, allow to idle with all fans and lights on to draw as much power whilst the ecu resets (sometimes helps with fast idle for a few minutes).

You can also use the Dreamscience hand unit and remove the chip and download it again.

Ensure the pipework on the intercooler isn't leaking air, because most kits on the market have too many silicon hoses and jubilees, easy enough for them to leak.

Check all vaccum hoses on the inlet manifold, these can split or pop off. Check any pipe around that area, anything seems to be a culprit.

Does it run on an aftermarket air filter? Check the pipework again to see it there's any leaks. You can also remove the MAF sensor and clean it for good measure.

Thanks very much for that, at least thats something I can try. If it's the dump valve causing this prob it's coming off!!

Got problem sorted it was a hose that popped off!!! But car still idles strange (up and down) Not really sure what do with dreamscience and ive heard some have life's and i dont want to muck it up as i have no instructions. Its a DSF2000 if this means anything to anyone. I havnt tried disconecting battery yet do you still think this is worth doing? Thanks for your help

Yes mate, happened a few time to mine and others I've worked on. Especially if there's been an air leak for a while, disconnect the battery and leave over night. Connect and do what I mentioned above.
