Default mondeo mk3 pulls to right

Hi I have a problem with my mondeo mk 3 tdci saloon
I was tootaling along the motorway when there was a bang from under what I think was the drivers side as if I had run over a piece of metal in the road but I am sure i didn't I pulled up as soon as poss and had a look under the car also took drivers side wheel off to see if there was anything obvious but could not see anything but now if I hit a pot hole there is a bang from front and also when going round corners there is a metallic noise comes from the drivers side also I have found when driving it the car pulls to the right I have not driven the car at all after i got it home can anyone give me any ideas what the problem is likely to be, just my look we are supposed to be going on hols this week end, ah well!!!

Many thanks
Dave

Hi yep definitely at front then heard it rattle at the back as it bounced under car only sounded to be a small piece which caught the car after the initial bang it drove home pretty well it was only when i was driving down my street it started pulling to the right and got a lot worse in about 30 or 40 yards just before I pulled up at home,

Hi have taken drivers side front wheel off and found the coil spring to be ok but the shocker inside the spring looks to have come away from the top of the suspension is that a garage job or is it a D.I.Y. I can see I will need to obtain a spring compressor but is it necessary to dismantle the rest track rod ends etc.

are you sure the bit thats come away from the shock isnt the dust cover?? should be a plastic corrugated tube? in which case dont worry bout it.

if theres no nackered ball joints, bushes or anything bent or broken on the front suspension (and tyres are good condition and equal pressures) thes its prob just knocked your tracking out.

Can`t see anything bent and it must be the tube that I can see is loose I can move it up and down inside the spring but if I drive over a bump there is a definite bang near the front suspension and also the car pulls to the right and when I turn a corner there is a rubbing against plastic sound and again there was a loud bang under the suspension which started this problem .

can you take a pic of this suspect part and post it up.

rubbing wise, is the inner plastic wheel arch lose? the bang may have losened it causing the wheel to catch.

Hi will try to post pic,.but just managed to get under car and found that there is a what feels like a metal cap which looks to have come from up under where the strut goes up into the car in the engine bay between the plastic dust cover and the top of the strut which looks to fit where the top of the coil spring fits and moves up and down the strut together with the dust cover as if its`s broken off. strut looks to be o.k. with no damage but if you look right up to the top of the strut which I thinks has 3 bolts fastened to a cover form inside the engine which I think is the part that is broken, it looks like a front top suspension mount
Hope this helps
Dave
