Talking Ford Fair 1DAY or 2?

Is it me or did it seem a real rush to get even halfway round FordFair
surley it would be much better to spread it over two days

The cost of a two day event outwieghs the benifits. Besides, how many people can spare a full weekend to bugger about with cars AND eat at their prices

much as I'd love for it to be a two day event I couldn't commit to both days as I'd only go on the Saturday.

I think one day is ok to be honest.

The problem is, so many people start leaving about 2.30/3pm, that by the time you get to certain parts of the show, half of the stands are empty!

They all leave thinking they're going to beat the queues but end up queueing anyway.

I was there til about six this year, just chatting and stuff, might as well get your money's worth. I went over the bridge this year at about 3.30 and it was more than half empty, so barely saw any of it

I said to my mate it's becoming a 2 day event it's just too big now and i didn't even get over the bridge.

But the cost of staffing the site for an extra day would cost, How much do weekend passes normally cost for shows??

I just found that by the time id watched a few mates on the track, had alook about the cars started to empty before Id enywere near round, didn't even get over to the 0-60 ! dont spose it taking forever to get in helped!!!
I agree that the prices would be a big factor over 2days but just think people would chillout a bit more an not be in such a rush if it was changed to a 2day event

O well still had a blinding day good to see such a good turn out

As good as it would be over 2 days, not every one would be there for both days so you would miss out on the stuff anyway, was in the show walking about at 7am and we stayed till 7pm drove in and out no queueing ,we always stay late as its so bad to get out

i dont think it would work as a two day event , simply because of the amount of visitors on the day , tring to accomodate that many people in camping venues is unrealistic , and you cant openly camp on silverstone ,

for me the ideas simple , arrive eairly , set yourself a route and stick to it ,

se what you wan to see fist and then anything else is a bonus ,

i thik i saw bout 85 % of what i wanted to on sunday granted could of chatted all day to some folk , we didnt leave till around 4:30- 5 pm ,

its a great show , and the revenue it makes in one day means they aint going to shell out for more days

getting the traders and stuff to stay later and later is the key i think, if the show starts to wind up at around 5 then at least you would have the incentive for folks to stay longer

i had to leave early but i normally stay till the end

All well and good getting there early but you have to get a certain cripple out of bed first

I think it should be a 2 day event. If you have a few track sessions you dont get to see much of the show.

Where would you put it? The circuit has changed so it can't be where it used to be. It was either there, or nowhere, believe me we tried EVERY other option. The temp road surface was used in preference to driving right round the outside perimeter road which is a LOT further. We're the first to admit it wasn't ideal, but it was the best option we had.

The show will stay as two days for the reasons Dojj mentioned. It simply doesn't make economic sense to have it over two days. As I said before - just get their earlier

It may of been a longer way round, but with the amount of people walking all over the place it would of been alot quicker to have traffic going in and out of the 0-60 that way.

Instead of drivers trying to fight their way through the hundreds of people thinking the temporary road surface was a path.

Fair point, and I'll bring it up when we have a show 'debrief'. As I said it wasn't an ideal solution, and it's highly likely that the route will change for next year as building/development work progresses at Silverstone.

i think if it was a 2day event on each of the days it wouldnt be anywhere as good as the current 1 day as i reckon only about 40% maximum would go for the whole weekend meaning there wouldnt be as many cars to look at. My only gripe about the show is the amount of wasps but obviously theres nothing that anyone can do about that. I see some people say they didnt even make it across the bridge, i'd be gutted as thats about 70% of the show missed. We always get there early have a quick lap around the place, get some food then in the afternoon have another full look round then leave at about half 3. My cousin loves going for the autojumble and said how its getting smaller every year but as i said to him, it will do because of ebay etc. All in all i think the show is fine how it is.
