Default Had a go in a TT 2day...........oh dear!!!!

sister-in-law has popped up asked me if i would take her mam back home in her TT,i thought why not see how nippy it is after her saying it was `quick`,was looking forward to it as took my 3dr off the road last january

came back and she asked what i thought

`do they do a fast model then?` i replied

btw its the 1.8 225 model so i dont know what i was expecting

did drive nice though, must be all the 4x4 stuff slowing it down

Remember with 225bhp and 4wd, it's probably only 130bhp ATW. However, some people do expect too much of ordinary production road cars.

I was exactly the same when i jumped into a TT, It was also a 225bhp quattro. I was expecting allot and it returned very little, it was no quicker than my lightly tuned ST170

See, oddly, when I drove an ST170, I thought it felt barely any quicker than any other Focus. There is definately a noticeable difference to me in something with a Turbo. I found the Renaultsport 200 Clio boring, but I love my 230bhp Megane and only 30bhp different. It's all about the Turbo/Torque.

My mum had a TT, same thing 225 1.8t. Tbh it might not have the rush you get from a cossie, but I bet point to point it would stuff a 250bhp saph. It was certainly faster than a st170, i have had several of those. Good cars imho, not for me, but good.

The latest ones are the tfsi 2.0 and much better handling too. Rs is mental but it's not a blokes car.

I have to disagree, anything that fast is a blokes car.

I worded that wrong. I meant the standard ones not the rs aren't blokes cars. Especially the droptops.

Spend a little cash and they go well, handling also a weak point and needs addressing.
As a piece of design though I like them, nice cosseting cabin and quite well put together. Instrument binnacles mess around too.

That's very true, but unless it's the rs version you still look like a factor driving it!

Thing is, comparing the to stage 3 saffs and stuff is stupid(Im sure a 400bhp TT would be quite fast too). Comparing real world production cars they are fairly fast, especially point to point.
