May not be the same thing at all, but on my old Mondy V6 I span the shells due to low oil I guess. Sounded like you describe.

Got quotes of £1500 + for 2nd hand bottom ends.

In the end got some shells from a Cougar in the States (same motor) for £70 and my good mate fitted them in the morning - that and and oil change cost me £100 and lasted just fine.

Don't keep running it, it'll only get worse.

£1200 quid for 2 days work !!!!

Fucking hell !!!!

Could drop the engine and box out of these and swap everything over and have it fitted back in all in a day no bother.

2 days maybe in total to finsh everything off and make sure its spot on but charging 1200 quid for the pleasure is fucking ridiculous aint it !!!

the 2.5's are renound for spinning the shells si, they dont have a baffled sump, and when the oil gets low, its an accident waiting to happen, i keep my oil level just above max, and check it twice a week just incase. the 3.0's do have a baffled sump, and dont suffer the problems the 2.5 does.

as for how much ford would charge for the work, it will be more cost effective to buy a cheap 220. my mate needed a bottom end rebuild on his 2.5 V6 mondy last year, ford quoted him £2800 including parts.
