as above, ive heard Jano can get some great deals, area six can also supply some deals. Pec do a deal for pec h-section rods and wossner pistons £899. It may be worth you trying to maybe instigate a group buy to see if you can get further discounts.

Hope this helps

Thats exactly what Jano sells (and what I bought from him), and for around the same price (he might be a bit cheaper)... but he cant do the cash deals anymore, used to be like £680 for the lot!

I cant offer any prices or sell anything off this site, so best you do some research and find the cheapest and best place to get them from.

It comes down to one thing in the end.

Some companys are greedy, & think about themselfs.

1 company will always put the customer first.

Guess which one i am...

rob if your thinking of spending that sort of money i'd get myself a zetec instead as theres no need to use them products unless your after serious power and the zetec makes and handles the power better otherwise just buy rods as the pistons can handle 300 anyway just my 2p worth as i got my lot cheap 350 for both but if i had of been paying the sort of money being mentioned i'd go zetec which i will be next season as the power is great

I know exactly what you mean mate, i am so tempted by the zetec route, but at the moment i really want a standard looking car/engine bay. I've got to have a proper think! standard rods and pistons are fine then? (in the zetec) do pistons need to be skimmed at all?

IIRC You need custom rods and pistons for a ZT Rob standard are no good mate, I think Ritchie was saying if your going to buy them may as well buy them and do a ZT.

You can use standard Zetec rods up to 300hp and just put forged pistons on them.

as karlos said i'd by some nice rods and pistons for a zetec and build a proper zt as you'll only kick yourelf when we finally meet one day and crazycage tells you how much you could of built a monster like his for probably 500 more than your cvh will cost unless you buy a nice ported head for it then the price will be similar and you'll have 230 from the cvh or 350 from the zetec

Disregarding cost what would be the "best" piston\rod combo? meaning the highest quality/lightness etc?

cheers

Now days there is not much between all manufacturers of pistons and rods. None of them are designed to fail lets face it. So in simple terms prettty much any piston and rods will flow the power you would want from an 8v its more about the correct comp ratio sizes etc.

In an ideal world you would want a set of farndon rods with a set of cosworth racing pistons.

but to compare the above setup is about 700quid for rods off burtons plus at least 600 for pistons.

Or wossners or supertech or ae etc for around 800quid for rods and pistons with arp bolts etc.

Either of the setups will perform the same if built right.

Whatever happens search for decent prices on parts
