White smoke suggests water is getting into the cylindars.
If the turbo is squealing the blades are hitting the housing when on boost.
Wouldnt have thought the turbo would produce any white smoke though. Is it using water?

Hi, rather than starting a new thread, I also have a question surrounding this.
Took off the bottom cooler hose and hose from turbo to metering unit and found quite a bit of oil, Also should there be any play in the turbo?
Cheers

Side to side play is okay (not too much) there shouldn't be much (if at all) in and out play.
My engine ran fine and the bores were not too bad on inspection and i had oil in the same hose. So tbh unless its a lot you are probably fine.

just had a look at my turbo and noticed some obvious play side to side, also the actuator has been welded to the turbo? and cossie exhaust housing cracked on one side..(will grab some picts)
Now im stuck on what to do, how do I go about finding out whether this is an uprated turbo - What other turbo options do i have?
Current spec: 2.0 zvh, on let pistons/ 1.6 head with cough piper cough cam/ going onto cossie management/ radtec fmic.
Future plans are to go full zetec (approx in 1years time) so would ideally prefer a turbo which would be spot on (once fully mapped) on a zvh and zetec turbo.
cheers
