Default RS Turbo conversion .... drives fine wont idle

Hi, I have jus converted my 3i to mfi s2 running gear, i fitted a new head gasket, valves, etc... and everything ran great, then half way through a journey about 80miles on engine, the idle started to cut out, the car in my opinion is over fuelling as it starts fine cold but wont start warm. I have changed the 'auxilary air device' behind the inlet with a known workin one, along with the TPS and checked for air leaks (cannot find any). this made no difference. me and my girlfriends dad ( a mechanic) have altered the idle adjuster screw next to the throttle body with no avail, the car jus wont idle, it also seems to choke and splutter below 2000 rpm, there is no dumpvalve or any chip or after market gear on the car and it all ran fine when in the RS, so i'm at a loss what to do next, the only thing i can see amiss under the bonnet is the mixture screw on the metering head is on a spring? e.g. i can push an allen key in and the screw will move up n down about 15mm, its not fixed solid as the one in my 3i was. i know the car needs setting up but surely it should still idle, it did when we 1st swapped it ......any ideas would be massively appretiated

Default

also checked the three multiplugs at the back of the inlet, blue cold start, yellow 'thermo switch' and the other, but even if i change these around there is no difference made to the idle
