setting up rs turbo mixture
hi me and my mate are trying to set up my fuel mixture as the car wont start, if i leave it for a while it tries to fire and then stops so we are presuming theres too much fuel no matter what we do we cant get it to start, any ideas?? thanks
There is a mixture adjustment screw between the fuel distributor and metering flap which is a 3mm Allen key i believe. You can turn it clockwise to enrichen, anticlockwise to make it lean. Only problem is there is no real way of knowing exactly what the mixture is set to, so your best bet is to take it to a garage to be sorted out. I assume that there is fuel getting to the injectors when you try to start it?
The screw adjusts mixture at idle. Push flap lightly (to simulate airflow) while cranking to see if you get it started that way.
Re mixture - You need to measure control pressures. Best take it to a garage that has the equipment to do it or you could buy a K-Jet kit off ebay or similar and have a go yourself. That way you could use the kit again if needed etc etc.
If you have a go yourself take a good while to digest how the system works so you don't make it worse than it is now.

we tried that we also tried towing it around the block and bump starting it it fired up and stayed running the whole time we had throttle down and revs high as soon as we let off the throttle it cut out and wont start again
