any gearbox experts out there

hi
ive an r&d 6 speed gearox in my 550bp escort coz, 3rd gear seems to be much noisier than the other gears, is this normal, (im thinking not),

what are other alternative gearboxes for 550 to 600bhp escort coz's

Sounds like a damaged gear, why not strip it and inpect. There usually a very good box if maintained correctly. I have had customers using these with that kind of power.
