Default Mig welders?

CLARKE weld MIG PRO90

Has anyone got one or used one?
Looking at buying a mig welder just wondered what people recon?
Or are there any other mig welders out the for around the £200 mark that are good.
Dont need an amazing one just going to be using it on thin metals

Cheers

the bigger amp the better the welder is generally, a 150 amp welder is probably a good one to go for for thin metals, although a bigger amp welder will weld tidier and get more heat through. id say you would get a half tidy one for around the 200 mark second hand. stay away from the sip welders though, they are not very good, clarke and sealey i have found ok, the best welders always seem to be the big amp ancient ones!!!

I use a Clarke 151TE and its been a reliable workhorse, it rarely goes a full week without some use. Ive had it for around 5 years and just had to buy consumable for it.

dont go for gasless if welding panels. secondly look at min amps it can weld somewhere around 70-80 amps with 0.6mm wire is grand for panels. i use a sealey 170supermig does from 1 to 8mm plate no problem. 200 hundred amp welders may sound good but you'll only and upburning through or distorting panels.

i have a clarke 90 and its ok for up to ~2mm steel. i picked mine up from ebay for 70 quid.
regarding the amps side of things, you ideally want a welder that goes down to 25 - 30 amps for body panels, anything greater and you may start blowing holes in the piece especially if you are new to welding like me.
the mig welding forum is very informative and has a good knowledge base. there is even a tutorial section.
