Toad ai606, is what I would go for, used to fit these, seriously had almost no problems with toads, more important if the fitter, easy DIY if cert not needed for insurance, only basic common sense and wiring, a bit of it mind, but step by step ok.
99.9% of alarm faults are caused by the installer not the alarm itself.

how much is that toad alarm what spec is it and were from

 

A1606 is the way to go buddy ive had 4 now fitted to different cars, nice to install aswell . Usual stuff Cat1 ,multipoint imobiliser ,come as standard with ultrasonic's but a duel zone proxy an't much only £40 or so . 3 extra programable buttons , valet mode ,ect ect ect,
on a par with the cliffords imo if not better , I got a mate one off ebay from a genuine dealer for aroud £100 boxed and new

You can get the toad fitted from around £250-£300, all in, go with someone well established and by reputation, my alarm installer I had to use was crap, had to use as cert ran out to do myself, had to redo a lot of it on most cars in family!!

i'm liking cliffords alarms just now. they just seem much cooler

i know it not about that and that you should be picking the most secure type but please... even the 'chirp' noise when you arm it is cool.

The carbon fob etc i'm liking.

You can get CARBON key fob covers for toad, about £10, easy to swap bits over.
ALL alarms must be supplied in silent arm/disarm mode now, this is a EEC requirement due to noise pollution, but ALL toad can have the siren chirp on arm and disarm ENABLED, takes a few minutes but easy going through key positions with chart, that they DON'T supply, if wanted PM me your email and I'll send it to you.
There are 3 volume levels the lowest is about "normal" chirp volume, the loud IS loud and would piss your neighbours off in the early mornings!!
If getting one installed just ask installer to enable chirps, they wouldn't mind at all, but "officially" they haven't of course.
