whats the better aux belt set up on a cossie? twin belt or multi rib?
i see there is 2 different set ups of aux belts that the cossies came with on various models etc
a 2 belt system for water pump and power steering etc and a multi rib single belt?
whats the better option?
its for a 200block 4x4 engine but im buying all new alloys puuly's so can choose what to run
thanks Marc

there is a reason why cars dont generally have crappy toothed belts on em anymore...... your telling me you dont miss the "SQUEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKK" in the rain pulling out of corners that used to happen,,,,,, then SNAP
poly V is def the best option, more grip and longer life too

Yes thats correct at sustained rpm ( 8k+) the Power Steering belt would turn over & hit the cooling belt, we ran without the outer belt on Topspeed runs.
Need to change the pulleys, ie crank, alt, water pump, ps pump.
I can't change as my trigger wheel is locked/welded to my crank pulley.
Saying that I've never had any slippage in the wet, but do have to hunt a bit for two belts when replacing them that are the same width, even ones of the same make can vary in width, as most makers actually just buy them in and box them, plus multi seem to last forever as well.

Tabs, I assume all the pulleys are just a simple swap over, no different bolt hole alignments or anything silly like that?
Or you could get all new anodised pulleys for the 4x4 and put them in a 2wd?

To change over to the later ribbed type belt, you will need the main bracket that goes on the offside side of the block, tensioner, all the ribbed belt pulleys, and power steering pump pipe (the power steering pumps are on opposite sides). I'm pretty sure the pumps are the same.
i dont know if anyones done it but thats how i was going to go on my escos
as far as i know you need a ribbed belt pulley for crank, water pump and alternator, you will also use a 2wd alt bracket and tension it like you would ona twin belt system
the p/s pump would be v belt and need to be spaced out to keep it inline with the front of the crank pulley as this would use the v groove on the crank usually for aircon

do you need more than 90amps to run your car? thats a lot of current pal. dont go over spec for no reason.
if you work out you need it then by all means by a smaller version with the same output

Can you get a multi ribbed belt as shown above but one that only goes from crank to water pump to alternator? i will either run the power steering on the other side with a single v belt or i will be running electric power steering so will have no power steering pump or belt
thanks
Marc
Plus the cost of a grp a alternator bracket is ridiculous!

Dunno if that helps?
what i want is a crank pulley with multi rib on the inside and v belt on the outer side,
Im gonna be getting a billet pully from mk motorsport so im sure he could do this for me with a 36-1 trigger ring on the back.
Just need to know if i can get a multi ribbed belt that just does crank/alt/water pump

yes you can get any length of belt you like measure it uo and go to a local motorfactors will have one on the shelf, i have had to do a few conversion and have never failed to get a belt

the pas pump is differant(i know cause i need 1 and cant find 1 local
for my 4x4)
and the pipes are differant to and need changed when converting from old spec to newer spec

all the bling cost lots of money pal ! whether you need it or not is what you need to decide, looking good does not always mean going fast !
as for the belt setup, yes you can get a belt and a pulley, the std 4x4 has both iirc. (just not the 36-1/2)
Iv been thinking more and more about getting the multi v belt set up converted to run the 2wd way!
