Default Tesco momentum 99 petrol

have always run the cossie on shell v power in the time i have had the car over 7 years now,but heard mixed views on the tesco 99 ron fuel some good/some bad.
so i thought id give it a trial run to see how the cossie ran off it??
for some reason the cossie doesnt like cold starting off this fuel coughs & splutters a lot off it & finds it hard to find a decent idle, but once up to temp is fine & then idles as good as when on v power.
on boost there does seem to be quite a difference in the way the boost kicks in & power compared to v power(as in more) & have also noticed the exhaust tone has got a lot louder also making me think there is a bit more power being produced somewhere??
quit impressed with its performance, just dont like the cold starting side of it & the fuel economy side of things seems to be less than v power
just wondering if anyone else has tryed it & what did u think of it??,did anyone else have cold start issues off running the tesco momentum fuel????

i can definately say in my cossie the midrange is improved enough to notice it (smoother) but top end seems the same imo .

I use Tesco 99 ron and it runs fine but does have a little idle issue when cold but only for 10 secs or so.
Im going to stick with the v power now as im getting it setup on the rollers this week.

I did some runs on tesco 99, and also V power, there is a difference, more in smoothness, tesco being better, and also a slight difference in mid range, better on tesco, but top end better on v power, I'd be happy using either, one is a 10 mile drive the other a 15 mile drive each way!!
Haven't noticed any starting or cold idling issues on either, even with running no iscv, winters day still start no probs, just hold for 10-15 secs.

My old M3 used to detonate on v power but ran so much smoother and quicker on tesco's 99

Certainly a noticeable difference on my ocy vrs

its definately not in my head , in my car (1 bar boost) its noticeable enough to mention about it . would think with higher boost and power levels its probably harder to see/feel a difference.

If V-power went to 100 ron i,m sure you,d be tempted ??!!

What about the diesels? Anyone any preference, i have a 120d and had BP ultimate diesel in and I think it has more midrange than with Asdas!

i have had proven results after using Shell and Tescos i could run more advanced on my saxo race engine on Tesco 99 and it made 2bhp over vpower and these tests have been done on several cars in our championship all with identical results.

If it idles rough from cold, and seems faster when on boost, then that sounds like it's lean to me.

which makes sense if the fuel is bumped up in octane by adding ethanol because you need more fuel per afr reading the more ethanol you run

hell yeah i reckon you would , i read an article BP station in Ilford was quoted at about Ł2.50 odd iirc per litre 102 ron , i wouldn,t know if thats a wise choice for the engine tho if its mapped on 98/99
edit- i read it in a magazine few years ago now PF or FF i think

funnily enough, i normally use tesco 99 and last night used v-power because i was about 15-20 mile into the red and my car seems so much flatter up the rpm compared to tesco 99

V power is 99ron fuel it also states on some of the petrol pumps

remember higher octane fuel burns slower, so if a slightly lower octane fuel is used without you getting any det it could feel faster because it will burn slightly faster giving the same effect as advancing the ignition a couple of degrees

You can get more ignition on V-Power which is why i use it. Dont use arse dynos, just old fashion det cans & lots of trial runs. Dont get confused by octane rating its the ignition you can run before det that counts.
