Default ERST Window Scuttle Hole(help)

Hi all, 4 months ago i had a new window screen fitted by a certain window company and basicly i had 2 paint bubble in the bottom corner and when the screen was fitted there suddenly appeared and hole the size of a 5 pence piece.
Now ive had a word with a chap from the body repair shop and he is saying that to repair this properly the rust needs cutting out and new metal put in its place but to do this i may end up having new wings on it as the area that needs welding is behind the wing at the top.

Any help on this matter is much appriciated

You can remove the wings and re weld them in so you don't need to buy new but obviously you lose the spot weld marks then, but that's no big deal really. The bodyshop guy is telling you the truth about all this as rust will just reappear very quickly otherwise.the problem with this is once you start stripping it down you'll tend to find rust everywhere unfortunatley, but that's not always the case of course but you can get all the panels cheaply enough if your stuck although the labour to fit these will b quite expensive.

I think the OP is asking whether the windscreen company can be made to fix the rust.

If that is a question, I'd say a firm and emphatic NO.

Paint doesn't tend to blister on sound metal and while the fitter may have disturbed it in the course of getting the window changed, it's not his fault that the car was rusty. If anything, he may have done you a favour by exposing the problem before it gets much worse.
