Mondy TDCi DMF and clutch, DIY?
As title, this is easy enough to do DIY?
I've had the Cossie in bits dozens of times, so is there anything on the Mondeo that will phase me? Apart from the parts cost that is...
While i'm on, rear shockers on the estate (2004), been quoted £50 labour to do them. Worth getting my hands dirty for?

Dampers are a piece of piss, if you can get the car in the air. But if you're doing it on your drive I'd pay 50quid to save messing about on your back.
DMF/clutch/release bearing isn't technically hard, just a lot of bolts! The biggest challaenge is lowering the subframe enough to get the box out.

As said, the subframe is the worst part, i'd take it off completely if i were you, after that, its pretty straight forward.
I'd be careful of the solid flywheel conversion though, i drove a Transit with one in this week and it was horrible, the whole van just vibrated, not nice!!

Cheers for the advice.
I'm considering the solid conversion, but the DMF thats on has been good for 112k so I figure the rest of the car will be dead before another one wears out.

Different car altogether but similar issues. I managed to screw my DMF and clutch up on my remapped TDI octavia estate, and went for the cheaper solid flywheel / clutch option.
It was "OK", but there was an underlying vibration that i could always feel through the clutch pedal which really got on my nerves after a while.
Like the OP has said if the OE set up has lasted 112k, that aint too bad tbh, and will you still have the car when its done 224k?
If you can afford it, id go with DMF all the time, like Tiff said if ford could have got away with a normal solid flywheel, they would have done.

ive done a mondeo clutch before. Ive never changed a flywheel though. When i did the clutch i just moved the gearbox onto the sub frame and removed the clutch through the gap between the engine and box. You might be able to do the same with the flywheel.
