Having messed about a bit with FRST EEC-IV, and knowing its capabilitys are immense, I started to wonder if its possible, I know on the later systems it was incorporated.

From what I can see on open loop systems a 5K CO pot is in place of the HEGO sensor.

Is it possible?

Does anybody know the sampling rate of the CO circuit?

Any input would be welcome!

i too have been thinking about this as the early 1.4cfi units had a hego sensor in the circuit, could the co pot be subsituted with a sensor and the maps changed??
or am i taking b*ll*x

Without looking at the code it's impossible to tell if putting a EGO sensor in would work. My guess is not because the eec code I've seen stays in open loop until a minimum number of ego switches occurs. This probably means that the eec would never then start using the data from the potentiometer if it just sampled this instead of an EGO.

Sampling rate is done once every background loop, frequency depends on ecu speed.

 

The short answer is no.

The turbo EEC4 software and normilly aspitrated software are incompatiable.
The fact the ecu's shared the hego and CO pot input shows that different software
is being used.
It may be possible to remap the non turbo ecu to run turbo and the hego sensor
but this would require MUCH development it would probally be cheaper in the
long run to buy aftermarket managment and do it properly.

EEC4 is an tempramental system at the best of times and is easily confused
when things go slightly out of tolerance.

If you really want turbo eec4 with lambda then how about retro
fitting the small turbo cossie eec4 system.
You would have to add the air flow meter, cam sensor, hego sensor and
of course the ecu. Then get it remapped to suit your engine !!!

Still cheaper to go aftermarket though !!!
