If you have fully adjustable stuff like coilys adjusty tca's etc I would leave it to a place like Northampton Motorsport, speak to troy, I know it's trek for you, but they WILL find any problems.

check where the column passes through the floor, the plastic spacer can sometimes pop out making the steering vague.check the track rod ends are on the right side, they are sided, the steering uj under the abs unit/servo can seize up making the steering heavy and vague.im sure i have a good 4x4 steering joint and ford cossie tcas spare,if youre in the glens youre not too far to come pick them up if you want to try them.

new strut top bearings, but not convinced strut tops are sitting right, there poly might put standard ones back on,the strut tops do seem to move quite a bit when steering,up and down aswell as side to side, but they seem all tight,

kev,i got james from msd's steering rack

just a thought could it be the uj on the rack to steering wheel?is there just 1 uj there?

cheers colin

i think cos its close to the turbo it drys out and goes stiff.its not tioll its off you realise how stiff it is.not sure, but if its a bearing and its dry it will crack when moving.i would check that.its easy to take apart.the tcas should be ok if it passed the mot, they would have checked for play then.also, poly diff mounts cause a lot of vibration on the road and i think the solid mounted beam wont help things vibration wise.

Could it be the two mounting bushes on the steering rack?
