Default Fecking car

Had a mishap today when out for a run. Gave it some beans and started losing power whenever I tried to give it some gas it slowed instead of speeding up so managed to pull over before it died.
Tried to turn it over and the starter just clicked so there was no power and something has drained the battery.
Have noticed that the main wire to the alternator has some play in it so figure it must be due to that and the alt is not charging properly as a result. Having tried to jump start it won't fire and appears I have no spark having removed the HT leads, great!

if you've no spark, check the coil or king lead first

Cheers bud, have fitted my group A coil now but its not solved the starting problem and the spark looks quite weak.

When I removed the plugs tonight they were dry but covered in black carbon which is strange considering I had checked them half an hour before I used it the car earlier and they were brown/grey looking ie normal.

Will try giving them a clean tomorrow night to see if that works or use another set if I can find them in the garage...fingers crossed!

Cleaned the plugs and it sparks better, got spark on all four.
Dizzy cap and rotor are fine and were recently replaced.
Got fuel at the metering unit and on the plugs.
Firing order is correct.
Battery fully charged.
New starter only a few days old.
Tried to start by pushing the flap on the metring unit down but no joy.
Sas reckoned trying to squeeze the hose between the turbo and metering unit to see if the flap moved but don't think it does. Have also tried to remove the plug from the electric fuel pressure reg on the meterin unit as he also suggested and still not working AAAARRGH!!!!

Nah just me being a muppet! It started this morning but was rough and cut out. Eventually found the bottom intercooler hose was loose. Triedit again but did not start then unplugged the cold start and boom it works.
But I now have some new electrical gremlins to fix as per my new thread.
