Default Replacement Head studs

A few of the head studs are missing off the exhaust side of my cossie. Does anyone make a sooper dooper, non rust one that wont be a bitch to get off in the future? or shall i just go to fords and get some original ones......

DONT forget your cheque book for the studs and nuts from Frauds

easiest way to remove the old studs is to put 2 of the nuts on and undo the stud

Yeah ive just been speaking to my dad about it. i think im gunna have to take it all off, and replace it as neccesary. May aswell to valve stem seals (if they have them), and the cam oil seals while its all off. Oh well.

that IS bad luck m8

also NOT done by sum 1 all the time as u have said as it is common for these to snap unfortuatly on 2w/d manifolds as the studs DO work loose over time due to the heat etc !

Mike

If you are not looking at going for anymore power get a Late Escort Cosworth Head Gasket

Cam seals are a few quid from Fords mate

And get a Cometic Rocker cover gasket as they are reusable i think

If u can get 2 of the nuts onto the threads then u should be able to undo while head is still on if only a little bit showing then try a pair of good molegrips

Yes mate, go for the Burtons Group A gasket set.

I thought you was just getting a head gasket.

Get the full set and do all of them, thats 1 job less to worry about

what you can do is get a very good molegrips and get a torch on the stud and heat it up until it glows red and simpley undo it it sould come out easy once heat is put on ther you can b a brenzomatic gas can from b&q s for Ł15 that will do the trick just light it up and heat it no need for head off not unless you what to

Mike, do you have a turbo damper on yours ? If not, it may be a worthwile investment, I think they are supposed to help with studs snapping, etc...

Can anyone explain why the std ford studs are ok ? I bought and fitted a set of stainless ones on my 4x4 and was just wondering if they were really worth the extra wonga.

Good luck with the rebuild mike, our 2wd is going to have the same treatment very soon.
