Default How come my Transit is faster on ¾ throttle

My Transit, standard 2WD engine. Ahmed Bayjoo stage 1 chip, -31 actuator, running 1 bar.
Spools up fine, have done a fuel delivery rate check (Facet Red Top feeding a fuel swirl pot, feeding standard Cossie pump). Fuel pressure adjusted to suit.

OK, this is felt through the arse dyno, but is definately quicker if NOT at full throttle.

Any ideas anyone? Incidentally, no misfire or the like

sounds like it needs mapped for full throttle, and is only mapped for part throttle?

would say that it's properly incorrectly set up ie: fuel and air mixture when on full boost etc

I wondered about the ignition timing being a bit conservative at WOT...

don't know if its the same thing, but sometimes 2stroke karts are faster on slightly less throttle due to it leaning the mixture off slightly??

Does the TPS run 0-5 volts or 0-12 volts Simon?

Bernie,

My saff used to do the same thing.

Ease off the throttle, and it would pick up and actually go faster.

Bernie,
The TPS is 0 to 5 volts for L8/P8 and 5 to 0 volts for L1/L6 ecus.

Would that be 2WD (L8/P8)/ 4WD (L1/L6)?

2WD originally had L1/L6

4WD originally had L8/P8

If I welded a boss into the downpipe, and fitted a Lambda, could one your monitors be fitted to give me an indication of AFR/fuelling?

That's very kind Stu
Knowing me though, I'll probably continue driving it for ever without doing anything about it. Cobbler's shoes and all that

Bernie,

In this situation its usually because the WOT enrichment factor is too great and that at WOT the AFR is sufficently rich to reduce power output. If the map is running the injectors flat out and theres a significant WOT enrichment you'll probably find theres sufficent fuel for quite a bit more than 14psi. As Stu says though best to get it checked over, or if you prefer I can have a quick look over it for you at your place as I need to come down to see you soon. (Favours for favours)

If you're coming down here anyway Karl, that would be ideal for me, as I use the van as everyday transport.

gearboxman,

There is a cheap fix for this .....
A block of wood under the pedal to limit its movement. !!
