Default thinking of buying a mk1 focus rs

right in january due to my financial status i sold the st and got a corsa vxr and omg what a stupid idea its spent more time in the garage than it has in my hands so now thinkin of buying a focus rs just wanted to know how are they to live with i.e daily driver and how do they drive and fuel costs the corsa averages 28mpg which i think is good compared to the st as that averaged 18mpg lol so any advice/info would be much appreciated

Top cars mate, i use mine day in day out. does about 27-28mpg and its spot on. you wont believe how they go round the twistys. Like its on rails. I had a BMW 330i before had and everyone told me i was stupid to buy another Ford. Until they've been in it and I've thrown it around a bit. It'll be the best thing you've ever done.

Sorry to hear you falling foul of the Vauxhall gremlins. Makes me laugh how one of the guys at work always calls Ford Fix Or Repair Daily and he spends most of his time in courtesy cars as his Vauxhall is back at the dealers yet again.

Mk1 Focus RS is a great car,

the Mk1 FRS is awsome, had mine since january! they drive really well i get about 250-270 mile to a tank and its currently costing around 50-60quid to fill it.

if you buy a standard one i think you will be disappointed but a few mods completley transforms the car, i would recomend:

AE+Tuna for the map, which is avaliable from a guy on RSOC,
Exhaust and Decat,
K&N Gen 2,
forge actuator and dumplvalve (The recirculating type)

that lot should get you to about 280bhp, then you can start looking at tubular manifold and a hybrid turbo again from another guy on RSOC with that you will be over 300bhp.

you need to look around as well beware of over enthusiastic owners with them up for 12-13k you can get really clean ones with higher milage and good mods for about 8-9k

areas you need to look at are the seats, the alcantara goes bobbly and worn i paid 145 to have the 3 drives base bit replaced.
the steering wheel melts and goes funny they are replaced for standard about 180 or a guy on ebay from germany is doing nice alcantara/leather combos.
then all your left with is general wear and tear, the waterpump at minute isnt avaliable in the country so thats a bit of a wory.
lots of people talk about phase 1 and phase 2 FRS mainly its just little things like the map from ford, stitching on seat bases etc, just go on RSOC Focus Rs section loads of info avaliable!

Hope this helps anyway.

Is it just me or are these becoming more appealing with age?

Prices are reasonable now and they seem to hold value well if looked after.

Look more focused (no pun intended) than the ST which are around the same value but just look a little over designed in terms of styling

Pretty rare, not like your see many a day/week infact round my way it is more like every six months.
