Was thinking of getting the cambelt done on my s2 as although the engine has only done less than 4k miles since being built it is around 3 years old.How often do you guys think it should be changed? also what belt to go for? and lastly how tight should it be just so i can check the current one is ok

 

i'm getting my cambelt done at the weekend i bought a gates cambelt kit ive been told they are the best to go for.

 

every 36000miles or 3 years

 

just go for a gates powergrip or a ford belt, but really any belt will do because they need replacing regulary anyway. and when you tension the belt, rotate the engine twice clockwise. then on the none tension side of the belt, hold the belt between thumb and fore finger and you should just be able to twist the belt approx 90 deg left or right.

 

Its actually 70 degree you should be able to twist. 90Degree is too loose.

 

36000 Miles? ive always been told 60K.all this time people have been wrong?
