Default stem seals

is there any way of changing the valve stem seals with out removing the head as the head gasket has not long been replaced only asking as if i have the car parked up for a while not driven for a few days there is a bit of oil ontop of the crowns or poss fuel the only thing is the turbo seals started to leak a while a go and leaked oil into the exhaust and the intercooler so not sure if this is was it is but i am changing the cam shafts soon so not sure if i should change the valve stem seals at the same time.

its a head off job im sorry to say as you have to use the valve spring compressor tool with the head off, as there is no other way of geting the collets off else

Can be done with head on engine, using nylon rope and the purpose designed compressor, that bolts on several studs, or anything strong enough nearby, but still a horrible job with head on car.

I have done it on some cossie, whit using air pressure in plug hole, to hold valves cloosed, but if you have doubble valve springs, it`s not so easy

You can do it with one of these;
It screws into the spark plug hole and you connect your airline to it.

thaks for al the replies turns out the valve stem seals were done when the head gasket was done which was less that 1000 miles ago they were genuine ford stem seals have removed the plenum today and there is oil residue in there going to clean all this out and the inlet manifold poss the intercooler but there isnt any traces of oil on the pipes but just getting sick of it smoking now i took the plugs out and they are oily on every cyclinder so i can only guess that its dragging the oil from the inlet which must be related to the turbo going bang as never had one bit of smoke before hand. i dont have a crank case breather in the inlet either as its running a group a breather system

the bottom end has done 10,000 miles since total rebuild new wrc pistons new rings new 200 block all new .25 bearings, stripped it down toaday and turns out the stem seals are leaking could see oil weeping down the valves after it was turned over, so now what are going to be the best stem seals and head gasket to buy should i used arp nut and stud kit or stretch bolts car has been built for 380-400 bhp
