ST170 suspension on 2.0 ESP
Is the rear subframe on the 170 the same as a standard Focus?
I am looking to replace the subframe on my 3 door 2.0 (53 reg) and I have sourced a local 170 item, springs, dampers and brakes all in. Will this simply bolt onto my car?
I assume I will need to change the suspension at the front to match, can I solve this by installing the Ford/Eibach spring kit all around?
Cheers

Rear sub frame is the same, even the ARB diameter is the same i belive on all Focus models. The only thing you will have to change is the hand brake cable, the ST170 has larger rear disks so the cable needs to be longer, i just fitted a brand new cable to my ST170 this weekend, cost me £47 from FordPartsUk which i thought was resonable.
The dampening rates on the rear dampers may be different so fit your rear shocks in place of the ST170 ones till you get a set. The rear springs will be 15mm lower than yours also. Get the eibach springs for definate, i have them fitted to my ST170.

The dampers on the ST170 are EXACTLY the same as the Zetec 'sports' ones (approx 15-20% stiffer than the CL/LX/Ghia ones) so - as you have a 3 door you must have a Zetec trim level - meaning the dampers will be exactly the same as you already have.
ST170 springs are 20mm lower than the rest of the range and marginally stiffer as a result, up to you if you go for Eibachs or not all round the car, a common criticism is that the back end of a Focus sits too high compared to the front anyway so you may well fit them and find it gives a better, more level stance!
See how you get on, you're certainly not going to do any damage or fuck anything up by doing a straight swap and upgrading/changing bits as you see fit. Your standard handbrake cable and brake lines will just about fit as well though the brake lines will be a slight stretch to the new calipers. I did a drum -> 2.0 litre disc conversion on my 1.8 so changed brake lines and handbrake cable to do this and then later upgraded to ST170 discs without having to change anything else.
Thanks for the replies guys. Turns out the fella is also selling a complete st170 front end too, with springs, dampers and brakes included. I'll probably be going up to have a look on Saturday morning, hopefully I can get it fitted in the weekend.
Hi everyone, just a quick question on this.
I'm new to Fords and I've just got a 2000 2.0 Ghia, and have also just got a full set of ST170 springs and dampers. I just wanted to check that these are going to be a straight swap before I start taking the car to bits.
Cheers.
